During the COVID-19 quarantine, many companies have been working hard to digitally transform their businesses. While some areas of the world start to open up again, many businesses are opting to remain in work from home mode. Moreover, many coaches have used this period to revolutionize their services and are now operating exclusively online. There are countless benefits to online coaching including the possibility to work anywhere in the world, the ability to be your own boss, and the opportunity to have clients from around the world, therefore expanding significantly the number of clients interested and of course, your profit margin. We created this list of five DON’TS of being an online coach. These five tips will help you to become the most successful online coach you can be!
1. Don’t hesitate to specialize
There are many people out there trying to make it big in the world of online coaching. That is why it is important to find your niche. What are your passions? What do you want to help others with? Is it fitness, nutrition, arts, social media, or languages? Narrowing in on one specific service increases your credibility with clients and allows you to specialize in one area. Everyone has something unique to bring to the table, you just need to find your calling.
2. Don’t give up
At the beginning of your online coaching business, it may be tempting to give up and try something different. You are tired of the long hours and little pay. However, this period is precious as it is the time where you can make your business boom and grow! The extra hours at the start may be exhausting, but trust us that when you commit to something the desired results will come. Don’t be afraid to take small breaks to prevent burnout, but don’t give up on your business completely.
3. Don’t shy away from social media
Social media is a great way to maintain your online presence even when not interacting directly with one of your clients. A simple story check-in can help make your clients feel more connected to you. Posting tips and advice to your feed can help you spread useful information to all of your clients, and also prospective clients who want to see who you are and what you could offer them. Using social media as a tool to gain more clients is key. Don’t forget to use those hashtags!
4. Don’t stay in your pajamas all-day
As you are most likely going to be working from home, it is important to act as if you are going to an office every single day. This includes waking up at the same time every day, getting dressed in comfortable but professional clothes, and making a healthy, nutritious breakfast. Staying in your pajamas can be tempting as you are just working from your laptop, but this can easily lower your productivity levels as your body is not in “work-mode.” Take that extra time to prepare yourself for the workday in the morning, and establish a routine that works for you.
5. Don’t forget to take advantage of technology
Do you know what could truly make your business take off? Using available technologies to your advantage. Of course, you will be working on your computer, making video calls, sending emails, etc. But have you ever looked around for other technologies that could make life even easier?
